Kindred Motorworks Partners With KORE Power on Battery Modules for Its Modernized and Electrified Classic Cars and Trucks – Batteries News | CarTailz

Kindred Motorworks is collaborating with KORE Power on battery modules for its modernized and electrified classic cars and trucks.

Kindred Motorworks, the Bay Area manufacturer of modernized classic cars, announced that it has partnered with Idaho-based KORE Power, a leading developer of battery cell technology, to supply battery modules for the Kindred line of electrified models.

The first two vehicles to benefit from this partnership are the Kindred VW Bus and the Kindred 3100 Pickup, both of which will be offered exclusively as electric vehicles.

Rob Howard, Kindred Motorworks Founder and CEO said:

Our team conducted extensive testing of various battery systems, and KORE Power’s form factor, performance and proven safety set it apart from the rest.

“This agreement secures our battery supply for the next few years of vehicle production and we hope to continue to expand this relationship as we grow,” he added.

Kindred Motorworks has chosen battery modules in VDA 355 format from KORE Power. These compact, standardized modules – already widely used by various OEMs – have integrated sensors for voltage and temperature monitoring.

The choice of VDA modules gives Kindred Motorworks the flexibility to build custom battery cases that complement the architecture and design of various classic cars and trucks.

“Ultimately, KORE Power’s modules allow us to maximize range for our customers without compromising on design,” said Rob Howard.

The modular design also means that Kindred Motorworks will be able to change and upgrade the battery chemistry based on future improvements without having to change the design of its vehicles’ battery cases and other related systems.

lindsay gorrill, KORE Power CEO and Co-Founder said:

We deliver high-quality batteries for Kindred Motorworks vehicles reliably and on time.

“Using KORE Power Cells to electrify Kindred’s classic cars combines modern technology and classic style with an undeniable swagger.”

KORE Power builds its first US manufacturing facility outside of Phoenix, Arizona. The KOREPlex will more than double Kore Power’s existing cell production capacity, with US-made battery module shipments beginning in 2024.

Kindred Motorworks’ first EV model, the Kindred VW Bus, is available for pre-order now at His second electric vehicle, the Kindred 3100 pickup, will be available for pre-order later this month.

Founder Rob Howard leads Kindred’s team of supply chain, technology and automotive professionals operating out of the company’s Mare Island, CA office. Kindred’s proprietary technology streamlines and standardizes the vehicle restoration process to build modern classics that are attractive, reliable and fun, and takes the worry out of vintage car ownership so drivers can simply enjoy the drive.
