ATLANTA, GEORGIA, UNITED STATES, Nov. 3, 2022 /EINPresswire.com/ — RETRO by Exeeder, LLC, (RETRO), a division of Derek Automotive, America’s first minority-controlled electric vehicle manufacturer (derekautomotive.com), owned by the technology entrepreneur Derek Bailey, announces the global expansion of its retrofit operation. The expansion includes the launch of Retro University, LLC, a new learning platform and online university that will teach students how to convert fuel-powered vehicles to electrification, commonly known as “retrofitting.”

The news follows a recent article in the Washington Post: “Glaciers in Yosemite and Africa will disappear by 2050, UN warns” and another that predicts the number of battery electric vehicles (BEVs) on US roads could rise to 43 million by 2035 and to 245 million worldwide.

“It is clear that our world is in a climate crisis, and increasing use of electric vehicles will significantly increase demand for the minerals used in batteries, which are carbon-intensive to mine. The manufacture of EV batteries and vehicle bodies contributes 14 to 24 percent of a vehicle’s life cycle global warming emissions, depending on where and how the batteries are manufactured and the raw material sources (Ambrose et al. 2020). .

Manufacturing a battery-powered electric vehicle contributes approximately 70 grams of carbon dioxide-equivalent emissions per mile (gCO2e/mile), compared to 40 grams when manufacturing a comparable-sized gasoline vehicle. But because BEVs use plug-in charging, this reduces the total greenhouse gas emissions for BEVs on the average power grid in the United States and is less than half that of gasoline vehicles (200g CO2e/mile vs. 450g CO2e/mile). The Post article suggests that drastic emissions cuts are needed to stabilize our climate, and we can achieve these goals by converting existing gas vehicle bodies to electric propulsion, which would save the carbon generated in new car production and eliminate pollution from older gas vehicles .

It’s a good idea not to create MORE carbon if the goal is to reduce carbon emissions. A national effort to electrify more than 170 million cars on US roads could save more than 200 million tons of CO2 while creating millions of jobs, which RETRO calls “high-paying, green” jobs.

Reducing battery costs means a cheaper retrofit, and RETRO’s goal is to bring the price of a standard 200-mile conversion kit below $15,000 to make EV affordable for almost all consumers. RETRO’s remanufactured vehicles can be sold profitably through Derek Automotive’s sales centers for approximately $30,000,” added Bailey.

RETRO by Exceeder was formed when Derek Automotive partnered with EV conversion expert and YouTube superstar Gregory Coles (YouTube: greggoeseletric) to combine the expertise of Greg’s conversion team with Derek Automotive’s Proteus alternator technology.

According to Gregory Coles, now President of RETRO by Exeeder, the company’s plan focuses on a dual strategy to expand RETRO and the aftermarket industry at large. The first step is to launch RETRO University, a global online vehicle conversion course that teaches students the fundamentals of EV conversion. This course includes working with high voltage systems and other core skills that prepare students for hands-on experience in retrofitting vehicles. To quickly build a network of training centers, RETRO works with existing auto repair shops that are already training to become Proteus system installers and training partners. The second part of the strategy is to open a hive of RETRO shops to install Proteus Conversion Kits worldwide.
