As millions of Americans prepare for Thanksgiving trips, AAA estimates more than 50 million people will be driving more than 50 miles for holiday visits to avoid road damage. Hyde Park manager Larry Patterson recommends people get their cars checked, especially if their tire pressure warning light comes on. Colder weather shrinks tire molecules. Patterson said his store sees more people coming into his shop every week who need to have their tires and batteries checked, especially before a vacation trip. Patterson also recommends people check their brakes and wipers. “That’s why it’s important to have a really good set of wipers on the vehicle. Have your coolant change done at this time of year. You want to make sure your cooling system, oil change, etc., will keep you from getting stuck at the side of the road.” Patterson also recommends that people check their tire oil and tread before heading out to Thanksgiving dinner.
