Program honors veterans across the country November 10thth

MAYFIELD VILLAGE, Ohio, November 3, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — Progressive insurance® today announced its 10th annual Keys to Progress® giveaway November 10, 2022. Ahead of Veterans Day, 100 veterans and military-related organizations across the country will receive keys to vehicles that provide reliable transportation and help them and the veterans they serve get back on the road and moving forward in life.

Progressive worked with Enterprise Rent-A-Car to source certified vehicles from Enterprise’s US fleet of high-quality, next-generation used cars, vans and SUVs to purchase and gift with funds provided by Progressive. The vehicles, insured by Enterprise for six months, are delivered to veterans, bringing the total number of vehicles donated under the Keys to Progress program to over 900 since 2013.

“As we celebrate this ten-year milestone, it is humbling to see the impact this program has had since its inception,” he said Tricia Griffith, CEO at Progressive. “Our Keys to Progress vehicle giveaway program is just one way to celebrate our country’s veterans at Progressive, and we’re so proud to be able to help veterans who have given so much for this country. Progressive’s Keys to Progress Giveaway program has become a reality thanks to the support of the following organizations:

  • Enterprise Rent-A-Car is seeking certified vehicles from its US fleet of high-quality, new generation used cars, vans and SUVs for sale to give away with Progressive funds. Enterprise also finances the first six months of insurance for the vehicles. Policies are written by Progressive.
  • Veracity Research Co. Investigations, a veterans-owned and operated organization, assists in the recipient selection process each year.
  • Insurance Auto Auctions Inc. offers a 12-month powertrain protection plan for the vehicles.
  • The Original 1-800-Charity Cars provides resources to facilitate vehicle donations, as well as naming and registering some vehicles for recipients.
  • Local charities that help identify veteran recipients in each region.

“The development of this program, including expanding the gifting of commercial vehicles to veteran-focused organizations and nonprofits, has brought a little relief to hundreds of our veterans who are facing difficult circumstances — whether it’s a personal vehicle to help them get there get where they need to go, or a utility vehicle to support their small business,” said John Murphy, President of Progressive Claims. “We know that transportation to work, school, medical appointments, or even social events is not always available for many veterans, and we are honored to provide them with reliable transportation so they can live the life they deserve.”

Would you like to apply to be a future recipient? Veterans must be sponsored by a veteran-friendly, non-profit organization in order to apply. If you are unfamiliar with an organization, veterans can visit VA.gov to find a local veterans office or contact their local VFW office. Applications will be reviewed beginning in May of each program year.
